What is Telepresence ?

As defined above telepresence is exactly that.  Telepresence refers to a set of technologies which allow a person to feel as if they were present.  The goal of telepresence is to give the appearance that they were present, or to have an effect, at a location other than their true location. Telepresence creates live, face-to-face experiences over the network, empowering you to interact and collaborate like never before.  Telepresence is usually used and done in meeting rooms equipped with VoIP (Voice-over IP) phones and high resolution plasma monitors that stream natural size images of the people attending the meeting.   There are specific room requirements for conducting telepresence. They are as follows :
  1. Room size has to be 15 x 20 squared meters
  2. Few or no windows at all to reduce glare
  3. Lighting adjustments (if needed)
  4. Dedicated power to room
  5. Internet connectivity
